NERDFEST 2007
submitted by kendega on Tuesday, May 22 at 9:32 PM
Are you a nerd?
Do you like hanging out with nerds?
Are you and your nerd friends always sitting around saying "Man, I wish there was a party just for us nerds!"
WELL TAKE YOUR NERDY ASS SOMEWHERE ELSE, CAUSE THIS ARTICLE IS ABOUT COOL PEOPLE!
From Friday, June 29th to Sunday, July 1st, all the local nerds cool people will be packing their bags and roadtripping to Columbus, Ohio for the very first interforum NERDFEST of 2007!
There'll be carnage..
There'll be mayhem...
But, above all, there'll be a 20 dollar cover charge at the door! Just give your money to the shady looking black guy that looks in no way affiliated with the festivities.
KIDDING! It's free to show, but BYOB, or be ready to flash 'em! (Wasn't kidding that time... You really have to flash 'em for free alcohol...)
For updates on this event, see this thread or this facebook group. All questions can be addressed in either of those places, as well.

ASU to host Premiere/Film Fest
submitted by Ragnex on Sunday, March 25 at 10:58 PM
High Country residents have a once in a lifetime opportunity on March 29. Two years in the making, independent comedy The Collegiate Handbook has its world premiere in the Greer Movie Theatre on the campus of Appalachian State University at 8:00. Filmed entirely in Boone, North Carolina, The Collegiate Handbook is the perfect kick off for Appalachian State University’s Open Apperture Film Festival. Protagonist Trey Clain, portrayed by Tom Valentine, goes on a quest to find out what college is about, and hilarity ensues in the form of romance, shenanigans, and all-out chaos. Tickets to the premiere are $3, a small price to pay for a unique experience, producer Dave DiVerniero said. “It’s not every day you get to attend a movie premiere,” DiVerniero said. The movie was created using the local talent pool, and guarantees laughter. The Collegiate Handbook features Tom Valentine, Andy Baird, Hilary Edwards, Lauren Ohnesorge, and John Crutchfield among others, and promises to be an event the High Country will remember forever.

Challenges include a greater effort that must be made in order to be involved on campus and in locating resources. This website provides information and resources to meet these challenges and enhance the opportunities.
